Catch up on Lincoln

Mr. Lincoln is still his very creative self.  He still loves Legos and is always making the most amazing things.  Most of the time they are some type of vehicle.  Legos are very messy.  I find them everywhere, but I wouldn't change it.  I absolutely love seeing his little mind work.  Oh and they really keep him quiet and still too.

Much like his sister, he loves to do crafts.  Here he is painting a bird house kit that he put together.

What else does Lincoln like to do?  Watch t.v. and play video games.  He doesn't get to play video games as much as he would like though.  I try to really watch how much time he spends on them because he would do it all day.

He doesn't really care for school too much.  He is doing well though, academically.  With Common Core, they just get P's (Proficient skill) or N's (Needs additional time to master skill) on their report cards.  For the first 9 weeks, he got all P's.  His DRA Reading Level was a 10 which is considered "Meeting".  His teacher said he reads fluently but needs to work on correct phrasing and reading with expression.  He doesn't like to sit down and read with me which would really help in these areas!  We need to work on that!  She said his writing skills are developing.  He writes good stories but his word choices are "boring".  His math skills are right on target.  I think he is good at math and kind of has a math brain possibly.  She said he enjoys learning and is always smiling!  I love that!

His hand writing has really improved since the beginning of the year.  We worked on it at home which he hated, but I definitely could tell it helped.  He does well on his weekly spelling tests now!

One day back in September Lincoln came home from school with this note.

I was not a very happy momma.  He got in big trouble.  However, that night at Faith-In-Action at church he came home with this.

Oh the ups and downs of child rearing.  We go from wanting to wring their necks one minute to hugging them to pieces the next.  :-)

One day I was up at the school and saw this on the wall outside his classroom.

 Ha!  Love it!

This day I had eaten lunch with him and afterwards he wanted to show me what he does on the playground--play with grandaddy long legs.  Eww!

His sweet buddy, Jack, was doing it too.  BOYS!

Lincoln played Fall Ball at Salem this fall.  We were on a different team with a different coach. It was just okay.  They only had two teams and so they played each other every week.  The other team had all been with each other before and were used to playing with each other and their coaches.  Lincoln's team was more mismatched.  So, they got beat every single week.  It was not all that fun to watch.  But Lincoln improved I think.  Hopefully it will be better in the spring/summer.  He is signed up to play Upward Basketball again starting soon.  We are looking forward to that!

He is still doing Boy Scouts.  Unfortunately our schedule hasn't allowed him to get to do some of the bigger pack activities like camping and Raingutter Regata on the weekends.  But we did go to Neighborhood Night Out where his den listened to Firemen talk about fire safety while we sat in a smoke house.

They also got to talk to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission people and ask them questions.

They also listened to a lady talk about the Animal Control out here.

Here he is getting an autograph from Miss Arkansas!  Ha!

Even though he didn't get to do the Raingutter Regata, he and his dad worked on his boat together one day.  He and Kris went to a scout deal at the Mid-America Museum in Hot Springs a couple of weekends ago.  He really enjoyed it and I think it was great for just he and Kris to do something together.  He is just about to get his Bobcat patch!  That will be cool!

The other night Lincoln's pack was in the Bryant Christmas Parade.  He got to ride on the float with all the scouts and throw candy out to everybody.  He had fun.

One week at school, he was dead set on wearing his hair in a mohawk because another little boy in his class does his hair this way.  So, I helped him fix a mohawk.  Silly boy.

While he absolutely keeps me on my toes and wears me out, his big ole brown eyes just melt me.
