We started our first full week of summer vacation with Layton taking swim lessons and Lincoln doing swim team practice 3 mornings that week.
I put Layton in Level 3 this year where he was supposed to learn beginning strokes. It was probably a bit too much for him, but he did pretty well. The teacher told me that they wished there was a 2.5 class because there was a huge gap between Level 2 and Level 3. I knew Level 2 wouldn't be enough for him. So, Level 3 was challenging. He worked on floating on his back which was hard.
He is a good little listener and loves being in the water.
He also had to learn to tread water. This was hard for him too but by the end of the week he was able to do it. Here he is trying to do the freestyle. Cutest thing ever to me.
This was on Wednesday afternoon while we were taking Hannah to play at a friend from church's house. He was exhausted.
Lincoln had swim team pictures one night. He looks so excited doesn't he?!
At practice one morning.
Here is his Freestyle. He is in lane 4. Lane 1 is on the far side. He got first in his heat and beat his best time from last year so that was awesome! He was 8th out of 22.
Here he is before the relay chatting with a teammate.
Waiting to dive in! He was the third leg and did great at catching them up a bit.
Here is his Breaststroke. This was his first time to do it at a meet. He really likes the breaststroke.
We finally got to spend some time at the pool this week. We were there with friends a couple of times and that makes it even more fun! I enjoy watching them jump off the diving board and do all kinds of "tricks". Here's a cute one of Layton. He almost did a dive!!
Worn out afterwards. His eyes were bothering him so hence the washcloth.
Love this picture.
Chickfila for lunch one day.
Playing with K-nex. He builds all kinds of things. This looks like a shopping cart/basket on top.
Jeff and I joined a Mixed Doubles Tennis team in Benton. We are both thoroughly enjoying it even though we are probably the team with the least amount of experience. This was at our first match. We got beat 6-0, 6-1. It was frustrating. I don't like to lose. BUT we had never played doubles before (and really never singles either) and so the other team had a huge advantage because they knew how to play the net and we had no idea. We have for the most part taught ourselves what we know. Jeff is taking a USTA apprentice class through work and I have a friend that has helped me some. We enjoy getting together when we can throughout the week to practice. I love the physical activity, the competition (been a long time since I have competed in anything like this), learning something new, getting to know new people, and especially getting to spend time with Jeff. It has been fabulous!!! And we are steadily getting better. :-)
