Pickin Blueberries

I am way behind on blogging about this, but had to get it in because it was so much fun!  A few weeks ago, the kids and I went and picked blueberries with Stacey, Kenzie, and Karly.  We went to Bo Brook Farms out near Roland.  It wasn't too far and was definitely worth the effort!!

Just for my memory, if you pick your own, they were $2 a pint.  I ended up getting a bit over a gallon.  They had wonderful looking blackberries too, but we didn't really need them right now since Mimi and Pappaw gave us some of theirs!

I have never picked blueberries before, but it was super easy.  It was great for the kids to do all by themselves--except for Layton.  He is not quite old enough to know what to pick, so he had to stay in the stroller.

The kids worked really hard filling up their buckets.  The big tub in the front of this picture was all of ours put together.

We did a lot with our berries.  We ate some just plain because we all love them!!

I made a blueberry crisp that was delicious with a scoop or two of ice cream on top!!

I made homemade blueberry muffins for breakfast!!

I made blueberry syrup which Lincoln and I had on our waffles one night!!

We made yummy blueberry, strawberry, and banana smoothies!!  The kids all LOVED these and so did Kris and I.  Kris is the official smoothie maker in our family and he can make some great ones!

We had all of that and I froze a bunch of bags as well in one cup amounts.  So we will get to enjoy our blueberries for quite some time!  Yay!!!

Layton is TWO!!!

Layton, you are TWO!!!  Unreal how fast you are growing up.  I don't like it.  However, you are so much fun to watch as you grow.  You just have so much life in you and really are a very happy little guy.  You make me smile all the time.  I love you to pieces.  I am SO glad that we had a #3.  What a huge blessing you are to our family!!!!

You are still so busy.  You are into everything and want to do everything your brother and sister do.  I am constantly telling you that "you are so big!"  You now say "bi" for big all the time!  Ha!

You are still into everything.  One morning I couldn't find you anywhere.  I finally looked in the pantry and found you having so much fun emptying the syrup onto the floor.

Stickiness everywhere!!!

You still love Hannah!!!

I love this picture of you.  Cutest little toot!!

You found Hannah's dress up slippers.

You like to help Daddy mow.  Cracks us up.

What else about you right now?  Just for my own memory, you are wearing 24 months clothes, size 6 shoe, and size 4 or 5 diaper.  You take one nap which could be anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours long.  Your eye color has changed.  It is more greenish now, I guess.  You still love your pacy and I just am not ready for you to let it go and I don't think you are either.  You sleep with a blanket and your dog.  You seem to have to have them and will look for them when it is time for bed.  You like me to read you a story before you go to sleep.  You are getting to where you like to be read to more.

You are constantly finding markers or crayons and drawing on yourself, the walls, or the floor.  Constantly.  I am always getting on to Hannah and Lincoln for leaving their markers laying around.

You really like the pool.  We joined a pool this summer and it has a kiddie pool that is 1 1/2 feet deep.  You love it.  You will jump in the big pool by yourself sometimes and go completely under water and pop right back up with your puddle jumper on.  You just smile really big.  You especially like it when your daddy throws you up high in the air!

You are still throwing some fits.  I try really hard to distract you and get you focused on something else when you do.  You tend to do it most when you can't do something that you really want to do.  You have started screaming really loud when Lincoln touches you or takes something from you or is irritating you.  I need to work on getting you to not scream when this happens.  You don't like Lincoln to bother you.  I wish I could get Linc to understand that if he would treat you a bit nicer, you wouldn't mind playing with him. :)  It will come!

You are definitely talking more.  You are mainly saying one word things, but you have increased your vocabulary quite a bit.  I am not good at keeping a list though.  You are also jabbering a lot.  You really want to talk and try so hard sometimes.  It will come too.

Some of your favorite things are shoes, beep beeps, candy, balls, Legos, fruit snacks, and popsicles.

You are starting to notice places we go like McDonalds and Chickfila.  You point and get really excited when you see them.  You try to say McDonalds.  You are doing a little better in Bible class.  There for a while you were going through some separation anxiety again.  We just changed classes last week and you didn't cry when I left you.  We'll see how you do this week.

There are so many things that I love about you. I love your hair--the way it sticks up in the back.  It is so cute.  It just makes you you to me. When I've taken you to get your haircut, they will usually say something about trying to get your hair to lie down.  I always say that I really don't care if it does.  I actually like it just the way it is.  I love how you run.  I love to hear you laugh and see your big smile.  I love how you give me hugs and kisses and tease me sometimes when I ask you for some love.  I love how excited you get when you see a motorcycle or a big truck or hear a really loud noise.  You say, "Whhhhoooaaa!!!" and your face just lights up.  I love when you find the moon in the sky and point and tell me. I love how you love your daddy and get so excited to see him and be around him.  I love how you call out for me when you wake up in the mornings and how you say "Mommy" and smile when I pick you up.  Melts me.

We had planned on celebrating your birthday this weekend at Mimi and Pappaw's house (along with all the other June birthdays in my family), however, Pappaw ended up having to have eye surgery.  So, we have pushed our visit back a few weeks.  We did kind of celebrate on your actual birthday here at home though.  I decorated your door, your bed, and your chair with balloons so that you would wake up to some excitement.  You love balloons.

We got you two gifts, an Elmo book that plays songs and a big beach ball sprinkler.

That night after dinner we had your "cake".  I chose to make a fruit pizza this time and tried to make it look like a "beep beep".  I thought it turned out cute and it was really yummy.

Layton - 24 months

I will probably do a two years worth of pictures post soon to show how much you have changed month to month these last 2 years.  I have done this with each of your siblings too and I love seeing the changes.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, I am kind of sad that you are growing so fast.  You are my baby and always will be.  I love you, Layt!!!!

Beach 2012 - Part 3

Sunday morning we had originally planned to find a church and go, but there wasn't one very near.  Since this was our last day, we just decided to go back to the beach one more time.  We worked up an appetite and went to Red Robin for lunch, then did a little souvenir shopping.  We came home with several random things and 2 hermit crabs.

Kris got the idea that Hannah should get her ears pierced while we were on vacation.  He just thought that would be a good memory for her.  Me.  I was really wanting her to wait till she was older.  Hannah has been wanting to do it for a while and would ask every so often about it.  Kris just kept on and on about it, I finally said we could go check into it.  There was a Claire's at the mall, so we went in and inquired about it.  We were about to do it, when she changed her mind.  I was completely fine with it and we left.  Well, Sunday morning she started talking about it again and said that she really wanted to do it.  Kris was excited.  So, I caved.  After lunch we went back to Claires, picked out some little diamond studs (like mine), and she did it!!!

She was definitely a bit apprehensive about it.  She just hugged tight on the bear they let her hold. :)

There were no tears shed!!  Kris couldn't believe it.  He really thought she would cry.  She was so brave!  I know she was proud of herself, oh and just a little excited.

That evening we met up with the Harris' again to take some beach pictures.  Unfortunately, I left our tripod at home, so we had to have Tremaine take them for us.  I took some too.  I think we should have waited a bit longer to take them so there wouldn't have been as many shadows, but oh well, live and learn.  I am not a professional photographer. :)

My favorite of the kids.

Oh that Lincoln...

We took a few underneath the pier.

After pictures we went to eat dinner with the Harris' and then watched their kids ride the bungee ride.  We got up the next morning and headed home.

It was a great trip, many memories made, and yes, dear, I'd love to do it again!!!!
