Trip with friends to McDonalds

I needed to get out of the house today so I called up some friends and we took the kids to McDonalds to play and eat lunch. The little boys seemed to have fun trying to climb up in the slide. Here are some pictures.

Here is Eric Dahl and Jack Vick with Linc. Linc is like "Come on guys. Watch me."

Making her momma proud

This morning I told Hannah I was going to make my bed. She decided she would make hers too, so she went to her room. I expected that she might attempt it and then get side tracked with something else. When I went in there, she had pulled the sheet up completely all the way to the top all by herself! She was on top of the bed trying to pull up the quilt.

She put her two pillows on and then started putting the other two on top.

Here she is straightening everything up!

I was SO proud of her and gave her a HUGE hug!!! I wish I could have taken a picture of her face! Even SHE was proud of herself because she knew she had done something that was really great and had pleased her momma!

Good-bye to an old friend!

Just over 2 weeks ago, Hannah decided to give up her pacifier--all by herself!!! One Friday night she said, "I don't need my paci tonight." I was like OKAY!!!! When it was time for her to go to bed, though, I actually secretly stuck it in my pocket because I just knew she would ask for it and insist on having it. To my utmost surprise, she did not even mention it and slept all night without a peep!!!! The next day she asked for it for her nap. I just kind of blew her off and simply said, "But you didn't even need it last night." Now, that day she did not end up actually sleeping during nap time, but she did stay in her room for a while. The next night she woke up once, kind of out-of-it, never said anything, and went back to sleep just fine. We have an occasional day where she doesn't take a nap, but most days she still does! Hallelujah!!!

Anyway, this is a big milestone for her. She was very attached to her paci. She is really growing up. She's pretty much mastered the potty training (we still have a few accidents every once in a while) and has even began to take her naps with her panties on instead of a pull-up. She is just becoming such a big girl! Here's my big girl taking her nap without her old friend, paci.

Just about to get it

Just in the last couple of days, Lincoln has started taking multiple steps. He is still pretty wobbly, but you can tell he is trying so hard to walk! He is also getting much better at drinking from a sippy cup. He has learned how to tip it back to drink it, but still loves to bite/chew on it most of all! I think we are getting there though, so that is a good thing!

At his 1 year check-up this week, Lincoln weighed 24 lbs 15 oz (80-85%) and was 30 1/4 inches tall (70-75%). He is still a big boy! I told Dr. Byrum that I was trying to start weaning him and having a little trouble. He suggested I keep nursing through flu season. He said it would help keep him from getting as sick. I hadn't really thought about it being right in the middle of flu season. So, I think that I will take his advice. I don't think either one of us is quite ready to give it up yet anyway. :) My poor baby got 4 yucky shots and has not been running a little fever and has been pretty fussy. He still laughs all the time though!

Excuse the Tinkerbell bib he has on in this video. It was handy at the time.

I love his laugh at the end of this one!! He laughs like this alot!

Birthday Party

I like to do themes for parties, if possible. Since Lincoln LOVES balls, I decided to do a ball theme for his first birthday. My parents and brother, Jeff, were here for his party on Saturday. Kris grilled some yummy hamburgers for lunch. We decorated with balls and balloons and I made a baseball cake. It was hilarious watching Hannah open ALL of Linc's presents! He got some cool new clothes from Uncle Wes and Tandy, some great new walking shoes from my parents, a stuffed dinosaur, some books, and a few little toys. It was a great party!

"Hey, what are you doing? That's my present, Hannah."

"Gimme that!"

"I guess I'll just have to TAKE IT then!"

"Let's see....what's in here."

"I'll just get me a handful."

"I'll just take me a bite..."

"GROSS!!!! What is this stuff???"

As you can tell, Lincoln DID NOT like his cake. So, Daddy decided to smear it all over him!

Time to clean up, so Lincoln gets a bath! Yeah!!!
What a big boy in his new clothes and shoes! His shirt says, "What a Hoot". He sure is one!

12 months!

I like to do these monthly posts because they are helpful when I attempt to update his baby book a couple of months late! I did really well keeping up with Hannah's baby book, but it is just harder with the second one!

Lincoln isn't doing a whole lot of new stuff this month. I guess the biggest thing is that he is taking a few steps. He just started this in the last week. He's funny because he will pull up on you if you are in the floor with him and then let go. He'll smile really big, hold his hands out, and then jabber something. When he first started standing on his own, we would say "Yeah Lincoln! What a big boy!" I wonder sometimes when he lets go and starts jabbering if he's trying to say "Big Boy!" It kind of sounds like it. So, I guess he will be walking really soon. I can't wait to see him toddling around.

Lincoln likes to wrestle. He'll wrestle with whoever is on the floor with him. He especially likes to wrestle Hannah and his buddy, Jack Vick. It is so funny to see him crawl over and try to tackle Jack.

After one day of trying to wean him, I stopped. I've started again as of yesterday. I'm working on dropping the afternoon feeding first. I have mixed emotions about this whole thing, but I'm pushing onward! We're giving him strawberry milk since he hasn't seemed to do well with regular milk. I guess he likes it a little bit more.

I've been taking Lincoln's picture every month like I did with Hannah so you can see how much he changes from month to month. He just didn't stay little long at all!!! I can tell a huge difference in the one and two months pictures! We go to the doctor tomorrow, so I'll give a weight update soon.

Happy 1st Birthday Lincoln!!!
