June Happenings

June is always a FULL month for us.  This month there were 4 family birthdays, 2 anniversaries, VBS, swim lessons, berry picking, swim meets, and just the everyday stuff.  Here are some of the everyday stuffs!

I noticed these clouds one day and thought how unusual they were.  Layton saw them too and said they looked like balls.  Ha!

Lincoln and his Legos.  This boy.  He makes some AWESOME things.  This one has probably been my favorite.  It is an alligator.  He created it himself using his imagination.

It even had eyes!!  Loved it!

Snaggle tooth.

Layton made this at church.  I thought it was the cutest thing.

Lincoln went to a birthday/going away party at the park for a friend from school, Leyton.  This is Leyton, Jack, and Lincoln.

Jack spent the night one night and the boys had a blast.  Here they were making paper airplanes.  Lincoln has really gotten into origamy this summer and has checked out multiple origamy books from the library.

I was determined to get the kids to do some daily chores this summer.  We had about 3 weeks where we did really well with it.  Then, things got busy and people were gone so we didn't really continue throughout the summer.  The kids did things like unload the dishwasher, sweep outside, clean their bathroom, take out the bathroom trash, vacuum, sweep the kitchen, and clean baseboards.  I tried to treat them for the work each week.  I have to say, Layton by far was the easiest helper.  He loves to help and would jump right on his chores.

Lots of naps in the car this summer.  This guy could still use a nap probably, but there is no way he is going to go down for me.  Car naps are great.

Lots of swim team practices.

Shaved ice, of course.  This particular night the big kids were at sleepovers, so Layton got a special treat with mom and dad.

We got in the car to go somewhere one day and Lincoln started yelling "Frog, frog!!!"  It took me a minute to realize he was serious.  There was a little tree frog in the car.  Exciting times.  Ha!

Lincoln finally learned to blow bubbles.  He was very proud of this one.

VBS this year was great.  Kris and I did a center with the Graces and Stephens.  We were a talk show.  Jason was the host, Kris was the guest (a treasure hunter), Angela was the camerawoman, and I was the announcer.  We had a lot of fun together!  The kids seemed to enjoy it.  My husband got to be another character, Micksandmatch, which he ate up.  He was from Australia, of course.  He talked about all the treasures that he had found on his hunts (they were crazy, crazy places, crazy stores).  Then, we tied it all in to finding your treasure in heaven with Jesus.

Angela was using a cell phone to make it appear she was videoing everything.  The kids got to see themselves on the big screen when they'd ask questions.

The very last group happened to be Hannah's group.  Kris wanted to throw Jason off by fumbling with the big vase and causing it to fall and break.  He was trying to catch Jason off guard.  It was pretty funny to see the look on Jason's face!  The kids' reactions were great too!

In the auditorium they put on plays about the life of Jesus.  This one was the one where he cast the demons into a heard of pigs.  I LOVED the pig balloons they used for the pigs.  Such a creative idea!  I know the kids loved it too.

This was on Sunday morning which was the last day of VBS.  They did a cardboard confessional which was AMAZING!!  It was a great VBS and a great kick-off to summer for us!
