Layton's 1st Birthday Party!

We had Layton's birthday party the Saturday before his birthday on the 21st.  Mom and Dad were here as well as Jeff.  We just had a family party.  These are always good!

I made two cakes.  This one for us to eat.

And this one for him to smash.

I found the party stuff at Party City and decorated the cakes to match the birthday hat. I thought they turned out pretty cute.  I like to decorate cakes, so it is always fun for me to do this--and no pressure to look perfect. :)

He was fascinated by the lighted candle on his cake.

But when it came time to dig in, he was not so sure.

He did not like it so much.

Ok. At all.



Giving him a fork made it a little bit better.

Notice the birthday ribbon Hannah made for Layton to wear on the chair behind him.  So cute!

We all tried to get him to eat some cake.

Oh well.  We moved on to the presents.  Mimi and Pappaw got Layton this firetruck to ride on and an outfit.

He likes it.  Right now he is more into pushing it around, but it won't be long before he is pushing himself along.

We got Layton some crayons, a book, and this water table.

He enjoys it and so do the big kids!

Oh Layton, I hope you had a happy, happy birthday!!!  Mommy and Daddy love you SO much!
