Lincoln turns TEN!

We started celebrating Lincon's birthday the night of his actual birthday by letting him choose where to go eat.  He chose Logan's.

Then, the next day he and 4 of his best buddies went to Dave & Buster's to play video games.

I have no idea how in the world this child could have slept in that place because it is unbelievably loud, but he did.

Jack, Lincoln, Tate, Wade, and Jack.  They had so much fun picking out their prizes.  Jack cracked me up with his inflatable poop Emoji.  Ha!

After the games, we headed back to our house for pizza, cupcakes, and pie.

Lincoln wanted a cookie pie for his cake, so that is what he got.  He loves that pie.

He got lots of money from all his friends and family.  He used it to later buy most of an XBOX ONE.

Just a little bit about Lincoln at 10:

* He is still our silly, loud lover-of-video-games-and-tv boy.

* He is not on any ADHD medication anymore.  I took him off at the beginning of last summer to see how he would do.  He has done pretty well at home and according to his teacher, really well, at school.  I am over-the-moon about this.  I hated, hated having him on the medicine.  His appetite has improved by leaps and bounds.  He is always hungry instead of never wanting to eat anything.  He is sleeping great.  He never has trouble falling asleep like when he was on the medicine.  He doesn't have weird little ticks anymore, like picking at his fingers.  He still has moments where I have to grab him and take his face and tell him to calm down and get some self-control.  However, I can tell that he is much better and all the preaching is working.

* He has had the best year at school.  He was put in the Gifted & Talented class even though he didn't test into it because of a recommendation from his teacher last year and his end of year test scores from last year.  He has absolutely loved his class this year.  He has never once complained about going to school, which is amazing!  He has gotten to play chess and be on the 4th grade Quiz Bowl team.  His teacher really praised him at his parent/teacher conference.  She said he is very well liked by all his classmates, that he is funny, smart, and thoughtful.  I was just SO proud of him.

*  Lincoln's handwriting is not too good.  However, he can do better if he really slows down and focuses.  He also has some trouble with spelling, but is really good at science, math, and history.  He knows lots of facts about things and did really well at his first Quiz Bowl.

* He can be pretty sensitive at times, especially when he gets in trouble and realizes he has done something wrong.  He has a tender heart.  He has trouble getting along with some of the neighborhood kids and insists that they pick on him.  Sometimes I think this may be true and other times I think that he just hates to lose and doesn't handle getting out of a game very well.  I am constantly talking to him about this.

* He loves playing basketball and is really good at tennis and swimming.

* He still loves to make things out of random items.

*  He loves loves to play video games.

*  He also loves candy and will do anything to get it.  Stinker.

*  He likes to aggravate Layton.

*  He has been SO good with Ledger.  He loves him a lot and it really shows.  It is so sweet.

*  He likes to read graphic novels (novels in comic-strip form).

*  He is VERY rough on his shoes.  That dude can tear up shoes so fast.

*  He does not want to wear pajamas to bed.  Prefers to just sleep in his underwear.

*  He has the biggest eyes of anyone I have ever seen.

*  He is always loud and constantly singing or what we like to call "making noice."

I can't believe Lincoln is ten.  He is just growing up.  I am so proud of him and love him so much.
