Weekend Trip

This past weekend we went to Kansas City for the first time since Layton was born. We knew that the normal 6 1/2 hour drive would be extended due to having to stop so I could feed him. It took us 9 1/2 hours to get there!! We stopped 3 times. Layton did wonderfully. We are lucky he is a good traveler-at least so far! The big kids were pretty good. They had the laptop with movies that helped keep them preoccupied and they colored/drew alot as well.

Saturday morning we got up early and went to a dairy farm that is owned by a family the Keim's go to church with. We have been there before, but had not gotten to actually see the cows being milked.
Here they all come going in to be milked.

Lindsey (right) and Leah hooking up a cow to be milked. Leah helps her parents do the milking each day.

Lincoln and Kris checking it out.

You can see the milk coming out at the bottom.

My little dirty boy. He was letting the milk drip onto his boots.

He didn't last long. He was ready to go home after just a few minutes. I know he was tired, so he just laid down on the ground.

This is where the milk ends up and it gets picked up every other day.

We went back to Grandma and Grandad's where Grandma cooked a huge breakfast. I love how Roena always sets her table so nice. She is constantly changing the centerpieces. She comes up with the neatest things.

Grandad giving Lincoln a spankin'.

It was just a playful one...this time.

After breakfast we went to Puddle Jumper Days in downtown Odessa--where Kris grew up. A Puddle Jumper is apparently the train that runs through the town. They have a little fair every year. So, we went to the parade. It was hilarious. They had a float/car for everything.

The kids enjoyed picking up all the candy that was thrown out.

Cousin Harley (in the blue hat) and Aunt Alexis joined us.

These next few pictures are for my Dad. He loves old tractors.

Grandma with Harley and Hannah.

They had some little fair rides there. We let the kids pick one that they wanted to ride. Wouldn't ya know they picked the bounce house.

I tried to get a picture of all the kids, but Hannah didn't want in the picture.

We went home and Aunt Mona was there. She met Layton for the first time.

She also brought goodies for the kids. She brought them back packs with markers, crayons, a coloring book, stickers, gum, and silly bands in them! They were a hit!

We all laughed at Lincoln because he just dumped his bag all out when he got it.

The girls took each thing out, one at a time.

Grandma got out Mona's old dishes and let the kids play with them on the gazebo. Hannah enjoyed washing the dishes. I guess I need to let her help me do this more often.

We went to church on Sunday and then left to come home. Layton was great again on the drive home.

We had a lot of fun being with Kris' family! I wish we got to see them all more often.
