Lincoln & Destination Imagination Regionals

Lincoln and his DI (Destination Imagination) team have been working on their team challenge for months now and it was finally time for the Regional competition in Greenbriar.  Their challenge was an Engineering one.  They had to design, build, and test load bearing structures out of specific materials.  They had to design, build, and test a freestanding structure that can withstand impacts from dropped weights.  They had to tell a story about a sudden event with dramatic impact.  They had to design and create a visible or audible depiction of the story's sudden event.  And they had to create and present two Team Choice Elements that show off the team's interests, skills, areas of strength, and talents.

So, they built their structure using the specified material possibilities.  Then, they came up with a skit about some bad guys who were trying to destroy the world or something.  I can't remember the whole thing, but they incorporated the weight drop into it.  Lincoln was the "mad scientist" character.  Lucky for him, his dad had all the needed costume pieces.  Ha!

Dropping the weights on their structure to see how much it could hold.

It wasn't a lot.  This was just a learning experience mostly.  So, they had lots of take-aways and ideas of how they could make their structure better for the State competition next month.
