Layton is 15 months!

Layton, you are just getting more and more fun.  It seems like you change/grow a bit every day.  The time is just flying by.  That's why I do these posts.  I want to remember as much as I can about you right at this moment.  I am more than a week late in doing this post, but this is all about you at 15 months!

Your 15 months stats are:  weight 21 lbs 10 oz (12%), height 30 1/2 inches (31%) and head 19 inches (80%).  You are so tiny--like your sissy!

You have 11 teeth.  You got your right bottom 1 year molar and your top left 1 year molar this month.

You just play really well.  You still are loving to push things around.  You will go in a room and I will get to wondering about you because I haven't heard you in a while.  I usually find you very intent with some kind of something.  You still enjoy getting into my kitchen cabinets and pulling things out.  I don't mind this too much because it makes you so happy.  You also are loving to get into my make-up drawers in my bathroom as I am either in the shower or getting ready.  You like computers.  There is an old computer in one of the centers at Lincoln's preschool.  Everyday while I sign Linc in, you head straight for that computer keyboard and pound away with the biggest grin on your face.  When I ask you if you are ready to go, you shake your head no.
You are climbing even more this month.  You have discovered more things you can climb onto like the playroom couch.
I found you like this one day just playing away with Hannah's little computer.
You are loving Daddy.  You get excited when he walks in the door.  You give him sweet kisses.  You like to sit with him in the evening.  He has started giving you gummy bears.  You sit and eat gummy bears with him and say "Ummmm" the whole time.  You love them.

You want to play with Hannah and Lincoln so bad.  This was one moment that they were letting you near them.  Most of the time, they like to go in a room and shut you out.  Hurts your little feelings.  They say you get into their stuff.  You have learned to growl at them if they do something you don't like or take something from you.
This is one of your favorite places to be lately.
You still absolutely love to be outside.  The mosquitos have eaten you up lately.  One day while Leanne and Carrie were over, we were finishing up lunch in the kitchen.  You had gotten down from your highchair and Jack and Lincoln had gone outside.  They came in a bit later and I got to thinking that I hadn't heard you in a while.  So, I called for you and went from room to room to see where you were.  I didn't see you.  All of a sudden it hit me where you probably were--outside!  I opened the back door and sure enough, there you were all by yourself all the way up the steps almost to the play house.  Little stinker.  I think you slipped out when the boys went in or out.

You really are a little sweetheart.  I will be cooking and you will come in the kitchen and grunt.  You want me to bend down.  So, I do.  You give me the biggest hugs and kisses without me asking for them.  I'll stand up and you do it over and over again several times.  I just love this.

One day you walked up to me in the bathroom with your mouth wide open.  I realized you wanted to give me a kiss.  I bent down and gave you a kiss and we did these several times.  So cute!

Once when we were at breakfast, I kissed your hand and toes.  A few minutes later, you leaned over and wanted to kiss my knee.  Then, you leaned over to kiss me.  You opened your mouth and leaned in like seven different times to kiss me.  Sometimes your little eyes would bat.  Adorable.  You are just so so sweet.

You have finally learned how to say "Momma"!!!!  Yay!!!  LOVE to hear you call for me.  One of the best sounds ever. You call for me when you wake up alot now.  Love it!

You are also saying "Oh no" and trying to say milk.  It comes out like "Meee".  But I know what you mean.  So right now you can say Momma, Daddy, Hannah, hot, eye, water, and Oh no.  Every once in a while I think I've heard you say "car".  Sometimes you will repeat some things I say, but they aren't very clear or consistent.  You just aren't a big talker yet.  You still shake your head yes and no to answer questions though.  I can understand you pretty well.
You are still sleeping pretty well.  We may have an off night every once in a while.  You typically go to bed around 8:00 p.m. and wake up with the big kids at 6:30 a.m.  You take 2 good naps most days unless I am running errands in the mornings.  Then, you just get one.

You are not a big book reader.  I need to work on this.  You do love for me to sing though.  Your favorite song is "God Made the Big Round Sun."  You put your hands up and make the sun everytime.  It is so cute.

You still are not real sure about Bible Class.  You are letting me leave you a bit better and seem to do fine while you are in there.  However, when you see me when it is time to go, you start to cry.  I know you have missed me.  Lately we have been helping in Peak on Sunday mornings and so you would go to the nursery and then stay for class.  You get pretty tired by the end of class and are definitely ready to be picked up.  I think you enjoy the Bible Class part which is good!

You were experiencing ketchup for the first time here at McDonald's.  You thought that was the coolest thing to be able to dip your fries.  You eat pretty good.  You still eat what we eat.  You love any kind of fruit.  You still love green beans, peas, mashed potatoes, and chicken.  You are not a big cracker eater so I have a hard time with snacks sometimes.  You still just drink milk and water.  We don't do juice yet.

One of my favorite things about you is how you walk.  You sometimes swing your arms back and forth and almost clap in the front.  It is so stinkin cute.

I love this face you make by puckering your lips and scrunching up your nose.  This is your "I'm not happy" face.  You do it when you have hurt yourself and think you have a boo boo or when you want down from something, etc.

 Layton - 15 months

I feel like I say a lot of the same things each month, buddy--mostly about how cute you are. :)  I just love you so much and don't want to forget one minute with you or one thing about you right now!

Mimi and Pappaw's

A few weeks ago we went home to visit Mimi and Pappaw.  They had recently been on a neat bus trip to Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, and a bunch of other places.  They had brought the kids back some things.  This is Pappaw showing Hannah what they got her.  He had it all wrapped up.  She was peaking in to see what it was.
It was this little stuffed kitten in a basket.  However, we think that when she saw it, she thought it was real.  It looked real.  Her reaction was priceless and Pappaw thought it was so funny!

We sat out on the back porch a lot because the weather was nice.

 Hannah read to Mimi!
Pappaw read to Lincoln.  I love these books.  They were the ones that I was read to as a kid.

Lincoln loves the sandbox.  Layton wasn't too sure about it.  He just watched.
They love to make mud pies and "cookies" out of mud.
I took Layton on his very first four wheeler ride.  He loved it!
It was a quick trip home.  We had to leave Saturday night.  I am teaching on Sunday mornings this quarter.  It is always so fun to visit Mimi and Pappaw.  The kids almost always immediately ask when we are going back.

Sayings to Live By

While at my in-law's house, I always enjoy looking around at Roena's decorations.  She never fails to have her house decorated for the season or holiday and I love that.  This particular visit as I was looking around, it hit me how many really neat sayings I saw.  So, I went hunting around the house and discovered lots of AWESOME "sayings to live by"!  Here they all are.  Enjoy!  I did!

Just in case you can't make this one out, it says:

Many Moons in the same canoe.  Lyle and Roena May 28, 1961.

Teacher.  Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  2 Timothy 2:15

 Love this one!!!!

Life is like a piano.  What you get out of it depends on how you play it.
I may not be good looking, but I'm faithful.
This is their back door mat!  Ha!

Amongest the pictures of all their grandkids is Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children.

Look after each other so that not one of you will fail to find God's best blessings.

A clean house is a sign of a wasted life.

You are the apple of God's eye!  God knew you before you were even born, and there has not been one moment when He has not loved you.  He created you in His image, and there is no one else like you...You are special.  You are the apple of God's eye!
