Lincoln & Tennis

Lincoln decided he wanted to give tennis a try.  He was in an 8 & under group.  The way the rules worked a game was played to 7 points.  The first player to win 7 points wins the game.  The first player to win 2 games wins the match.  They pretty much had to call their own balls.  So if a ball was out they had to yell "out."  There was a parent there to help out as well.  They played on Sunday afternoons and would either play one or two matches.

Lincoln and his buddy Jack both played and Jack's mom, Jill, was their coach.

Practicing one Saturday with his dad.  We all actually got tennis rackets and really enjoyed playing as well.

I LOVED watching him, but boy did it make me a nervous wreck!

Shaking hands with his opponent at the end of a match.

He loved to run up and mark his scores!  Ha!

Lincoln did so great at his first year of tennis.  We were so proud of him!  He ended up with a record of 10 matches won and only 3 lost.  (21-10 for games/sets) Those last 3 lost matches were on the very last game day.  I don't know what his deal was but he was off his game.  He really seemed to like tennis.  I hope he will play again in the spring!

Here's a couple of glimpses of him playing.
