VBS: Wise Up! Safari with Solomon

Our VBS theme this year was Wise Up! Safari with Solomon.  It was centered around the kids learning the 5 wise ways that lead to life:  Ears that listen to God, Hearts that trust God, Hands that serve God, Tongues that speak up for God, and Feet that walk in God's ways.

The church building was decorated to look like there was a safari going on.

The first morning Solomon (aka Wallace) came riding in on a golf cart.

The bible stories centered around David.  He was chosen to be king instead of his brothers because "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

Our Life Group had a 2-part center that focused on the Tabernacle and the story of David and Goliath and then a puppet show that incorporated several bible stories.  Mike was the high priest.  He and Stacey told the kids all about the Tabernacle.

The Holy Place.  I forgot to take a picture of the Most Holy Place, but it had the ark of the covenant in it along with the manna, 10 commandments, and Aaron's staff.

We told the story of David and Goliath and then the kids got to dress up as Israelites and then try to kill Goliath with sling shots.

The kids loved getting to use the sling shots.

Then, we related the 5 wise ways back to the stories.

Kris was in the puppet part.  He was the tour guide on the tour boat.

Then, we ended Sunday morning with the story of David and Goliath acted out.  DJ Williams (former Razorback and NFL football player turned local t.v. station morning show host) played a good Goliath.

It was a really great couple of days!!!
