Road Trip!!! Day 3

On Monday morning we got up and started driving towards Gulf Shores/Orange Beach.  We decided the night before that we wanted to hit up the Gulf Coast Gator Ranch in Moss Point, MS first.

We saw several different sizes of alligators and got to feed the big ones.

Kris and the big boys went on an Airboat Swamp Tour.  Ledger was too little to go so Hannah and I stayed with him.  They loved it.  The boat just barely skimmed the water which Kris thought was cool.  It was super loud, though, so they had to wear ear plugs.

Next, we ate lunch at Raising Cane and then headed to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile Bay.

We walked all over the ship.  The USS Alabama was a World War II battleship that was home to 2,500 Americans.  It lead the American Fleet into Tokyo Bay in 1945.

I think this was what the Captain's dining room would have looked like.

The Captain's quarters.

This park also had a Medal of Honor Aircraft Pavilion which housed a big aircraft collection, historic vehicles, and war artifacts.  It was neat to see.  I wish we had had more time to spend in here.

Finally, we went on board the USS Drum, which was a WWII submarine.  Apparently, it is the oldest American submarine on public display.  I can't imagine 72 people being aboard this thing, but they were.

The kitchen.

A full view of the submarine to get an idea of how big it was.

By this time we were starved.  We tried to get into Felix's, but it had a ridiculously long wait.  So, we went across the street to R & R Seafood.  Kris is not a fan of seafood, but Lincoln and I love it.  I told Kris we had to eat fresh seafood since we were on the water.
