Back Yard Project - Phases 2 & 3

I am trying so hard to catch up on my blog. I am way behind.

To refresh: Kris basically tore up the back yard to try to correct our drainage issues. He put in a drain in hopes that the water would run off better.

This was back in the middle of April. After finishing putting in the drain, he started working on building the retaining wall.

The kids love to be outside while their Daddy is working.

While he was putting in the drain, he laid a pipe from one end of the yard to the other to make the kids a telephone. One is at the swing set and the other is at the playhouse. They can talk to each other. So cool! Their Daddy is awesome!

Now on to what I am calling, Phase 3. When he finished the retaining wall, he had to get some dirt to help fill in and level out the yard. This was back in the middle of May.

The kids enjoyed watching the big dump truck dump out the dirt.

Then, they enjoyed playing on it.

I love my girlie girl, Hannah. Look at her sliding down the dirt pile!!

Good times!

The next few pictures are of the yard after Kris put the drain in, got the retaining wall done, and leveled everything off with the dirt.

My Harding swing will go back between a couple of the trees near the back fence. I can't wait!

It goes all the way around to the gate.

He even made steps up to the play house.

Finally, he had to rent a tiller to till up the dirt so he could scatter the grass seeds. We decided to try just planting grass ourselves (which is a LOT cheaper) before we went the sod route. We got so much rain right after we did this, we were afraid a lot of the seed got washed away. Some probably did, but we are finally seeing some grass growing.

One of these days I'll post the final pictures of the yard. It is going to be great--as soon as the grass grows more!
